Sometimes the two concepts confused in this discussion (not this one specifically but this issue) is linguistic gender and biological sex. One cannot argue from the first to the second. A very funny treatment of this and several other like issues in language can be found in Mark Twain's essay "The Awful German Language." Seriously, however, in languages where every noun is assigned a gender (which is most of them. Interestingly, English has rid itself of almost all gender-references, and yet...

Re: What Are Women Really Attracted To?
Silly Question but what does this mean and why? What if his goal is to do a honest day's work, take care of his home, wife, and children to the best of his abilities? This sounds a little like the phrase "I'll date a man with potential". I HATE that phrase. To me the person is saying, "I really don't accept you as you are but will if you become what I think you can become". Maybe that's why families and children are such a mess these days. Everyone feels that they have to "be" somebody. If...

IF there are less pupils at these original public schools DO YOU FIGURE THAT THEIR FUNDING WILL BE CUT and thus YOU ARE IN STRONG OPPOSITION TO MEEK'S drive......RIGHT? (That is if you follow logic).

But when constantly faced with dealing with rejection, how long before chinks in the armor start to show. Men have self esteem issues also. I personally think that many of those that appear to have great self confidence i.e. I'm a pimp/player mentality are masking low self esteem issues. Al Qaeda No. 2: Bush must admit defeat in Iraq (CNN) -- An Arabic language news network has aired a video of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, in which he called on U.S. President George W. Bush to admit defeat in Iraq. Al-Jazeera said the video, which is about a minute long, was made in December. According to CNN's translation of the video, Ayman al-Zawahiri offers his condolences to Pakistan for the October 8 earthquake before congratulating fellow Muslims for what he says...

I'm a Taoist as well. Some wise man whose name I can't recall said "It's the how of living that matters, not the how long." That being said, my own death doesn't scare me. What scares me is losing one of my loved ones before I'm ready to lose them. I don't think we miss the world when we die, but there is a good chance that the world misses us. As far as my passing, I could care less when I die, so long as I die well. Another wise man whose name I can't remember said "There are only two ways...

Personally, I'm not into fashion "trends," period. Bcause I don't have the time nor the money to buy a new wardrobe each time a new season arrives, I tend to buy investment clothing made with quality fabrics that can worn season after season. As far as I'm concerned, as long as a man has on clean clothes, he is dressed conservatively (with a little bit of style to him), then he looks good to me.

Certainly, I've discussed the impact teacher expectations has on students' academic performance in the forum before. In fact, there is a discussion taking place right now about this issue in the Politics forum under the thread entitled, "Are Schools Failing Black Boys?" This issue is also heavily discussed in education programs and textbooks. I'm currently enrolled into Master's Education Program and the subject of teachers' expectations is discussed quite often. However, the fact of the...

I'm curious, kevin41: what do you think of Afrimericans who were born in poverty yet mainatined their extreme conservative bias throughout the tough years? This isn't a question on whether or not you agree with their views. Despite what some people may believe not all superconservative Blacks did a 180 once they reached a certain level of prominence--some were ultra right-wing through it all and used that conservative ethos to get where they are. The findings could represent a difference in severity of illness that was inadequately measured by a...

First who is Kendred Meeks. Funny that there are NO citations for that person in all of Google. Second, most schools are built with a combination of local, state, and federal funding hence your assumption that building schools somehow reduces per student funding does not necessarily apply. Third, even if per student funding decreased, lowering the teacher/student ratio in some instances might overcome the reduced funding. This is particularly the case when it is part of a planned, strategic...

Sure, that's one of the purposes for attending the workshop: to network with other teachers. Other purposes include exposure to new teaching strategies and better ways to assess students. What is a Christian to you? Yes, Christians do differ on issues, but they differ usually because they've started from different points of view. They have different conclusions about the world to begin with, thus they have certain differences in their worldviews, which is part of the point that I made originally.

The article makes several good points, however, I think it sugarcoats the "baby mama/daddy drama" that affects many of these types of relationships. When a couple have a child, there is an eternal connection. Some biological parents won't speak to the step-parent for any reason and are...
