If he hasn't already, Spike Lee should write a film FOR Morgan Freeman. Some kind of bio-story... not about anyone necessarily famous, but about one man's journey. A non-Hollywood type screen adaptation of the true story/novel Life Is Good immediately comes to mind. Just the right actor, just the right age. Do it, Spike!

Look forward to hearing your review work4rymes Yes the film is an obvious parallel to what is happening today, but it is set firmly and convincingly in the 1950's. Rather than 'hitting everyone over the head' with his message, Clooney chooses to tell his story via the newsteam at CBS and in particular on air broadcaster Edward Murrow. I think the film was made more for those of us who weren't around in the McCarthy era, to prompt discussion and further reading. I don't think there was time...

Some artists, like some people, are assholes and need to be ignored. No code of ethics in the world can raise someone's IQ But I don't think any artistic "code of ethics" or any censorship rule could screen out an example like the one you cite without also targeting a lot of works I might enjoy. Even in this instance, as offended as I truly am by the image you've conjured, I'm against censorship.

The point of Plan 9 from outer-space was that one could go to a dark drive-in, and NOT care what was on the screen. Also, the man who made it, Mr. Ed Wood, actually thought he was making a good movie--you see, the heart was there, but the ability wasn't.

To put it succintly, these men are on another level. Many of them are vegan, they don't drink, they don't smoke cigarettes (or weed), and they avoid intermingling (romatically) with lost people. And by doing this, they avoid the frustration that results from dealing with ignorant and lost women. Some of them are so selective that they will not date a woman who chemically straightens her hair, because a woman who is willing to sacrifice her health in order to conform to a Eurocentric standard...

You still did not explain what puts these men on "another level" as you put it. You just described more personal preferences. Being vegan is a choice - not necessarily a better one than eating meats. Vegans have their own health issues to deal with. There are some nutrients that are hard to come by in vegan diets. Particularly if they do not consume diary. Drinking in moderation is shown to improve heart health and lipid profiles, so being a non-drinker isn't inherently better either. How do...

It was a role after all ... I think he played it well... it was very nuanced... But he's not obligated to continue this role at the Oscars... So I think the decision not to perform this song at the Oscars is a way to say "No ... it was enough to play this role in a movie - as art - but I'm not going to live it beyond the screen or promote the idea that...
