Re: calling all fASHIONista men!!
That's interesting because I was watching an old episode of Dave Chapelle the other night, and his musical guest was "Big Boi," one of the group members of the popular rap group, Outkast. He was wearing an outfit that was very similiar to the White dude's outfit that I described earlier in the discussion. But instead, the artist Big Boi wore a black velvet blazer with padded elbows, crisp white shirt, relaxed jeans, etc. Is Big Boi "gay?" I also spotted Will Smith wearing a velvet blazer...

I KNOW gay when I see/hear it... and the guy you described is gay or he definetely wants to be... The men that you described do not pick their own clothes, their "fashions" are usually picked by gay males... And I do not work "outside" of the entertainment industry... Sheeee's Back!!!

I mean to me it only makes since. For instance Vince Young, arguably the true heisman, was brilliant in the championship game. Brilliant in the fact that his 4th and 5 game winning touchdown sealed a multi-million dollar deal, and placed the coach on a pedastle. I don't argue that he should recieve any financial compensation, but I do feel that many like him shouldn't have to struggle through K-12 as much, and depend on their athletic ability to be accepted into good schools. Re: State of the Union: NPR WANTS YOUR VIEW
I kind of resent the fact that African-Americans (on an African-American discussion board) cannot contribute any critical comments about our government without someone accusing us of excessive reliance and dependency, on the government. I viewed Bush's State of the Union address on television yesterday. And as expected, his only objective was to emphasize to the public his reasons for why he refuses to backdown from his mission. Throughout his speech, all that I kept hearing was "I'm the...

The Second Slave Era 2006: The Dismantling Of the African Mind One of the things that lead me to the education profession was my experience as a job-seeker. Whenever I attended job fairs, I noticed majority of the students applying for the higher-paying positions in fields that have the greatest impact on our world (i.e., computer science, engineering, technology, agriculture, biology, and natural sciences) were Whites, Asians, and foreign students from India. Here is a real work example of zero sum Toussiant. Who can forget the neocons' claim that under their leadership America creates its own reality? Remember the neocons' Iraq reality--a "cakewalk" war? After three years of combat, thousands of casualties, and cost estimated at over $1 trillion, real reality must still compete with the White House spin machine. One might think that the Iraq experience would restore sober judgement to policymakers. Alas, neocon reality has spread everywhere. It...

As I said, I think the issue is really what one deems or can make a case for relevance. For example, why are books on Linux more relevant than say Souls of Black Folk by WEB Du Bois. Why is Dancing Wu Li Masters more relevant than Toni Morrison's Beloved or Michel Foucaults Order of Things . I would have removed much of the science fiction and the electronic texts and included more historical (African Diasporic as well as European) and sociological, philosophical, and anthropological texts...

You can still have love, but that should not be the foundation that the relationship is standing on. The concept of love just does'nt have the muscle to carry the weight. Plus mutual respect (garnered from both people fullfilling thier educational, employment, and other goals)has proven to be way more effective. Relationships (in my view) should be processed as K=f(x); K= Relationships f=function x= all variables that will ensure a successful and rewarding partnership. After all, in the end...

After reading the curriculum that will be used to teach NY children about HIV/AIDS, the biggest problem that I see coming from it is the vagueness of the curriculum and how it tries to avoid questions of sex in the Grade K curriculum. However, he also distrusted the people, he believed that capitalism could be properly used by "enlightened statesmen" and "philosopher...
