how old is your friend? If she is over 30, then it sounds like she is taking the best deal on the table. I'm from the MD area, educated in DC[Georgetown U], returned to DC after grad school and have found that black women are the least approachable women of the all. Many DC black men agree with me on this. That's why there are so many mixed couples in the surrounding areas, i.e. Northern VA, PG County, Gaitherburg MD, Bethesda MD, and Silver Spring MD...have you ever been to Georgetown??

1. I don't think it is a sign of a mental illness, just a reality check. Older women that desire motherhood have to do whatever it takes to get to that goal...and time is running out. 2. I think that older women have to 'fall in line' when it comes with their desire to be a wife and mom. I know from personal experiences in dating women well over 30 that marriage/child questions on a first or second date is a real downer!! But what choice does she really have? Of course I expect MBM to follow up with a reply to the effect that "I am right" that Black people are savages or thugs or something foolish such as this. To the people of Washington DC who have defended Marion Barry, seeing him as a victim of a conspiracy by Whites who don't want him in power, working on behalf of the poor in DC this must be tantamount to Rosa Parks getting robbed in her home despite asking the thug "Do you know who I am" and he not caring . So...will things change as a result of your strategy....which is: 1) Blame everything on black liberals 2) Ignore incidents of police brutality and racism against blacks 3) Lobbying to increase the number of blacks who don't vote democratic. 4) Ignoring that the present is the summation and creation of the past. 5) being an UNCLE TOM or a white man pretending to be black how does that strategy HELP?

Based upon the onus you place on their backs, why do you call them "victims"? Please explain. A woman has been repeatedly abused by her husband over the years. She walks into the police station, finally, seeking protection and relief. CF looks at her and says, "What are you prepared to do to change to help your situation?" First of all - she has taken the first step and is at the damned police station. Second of all, that she has survived as long as she has is a testament to her personal...

Typical. Lots of people are blinded by hate/homophobia. Remember the one we had here who would post her homophobic "proof" straight from the Klan's website. When you find yourself agreeing with and quoting the Klan, you need to someone to dropkick you. Hard. Evenso, the tradegy is that people (especially BLACK people, and especially people on the pulpit) are promoting hatred. Effing shame.

Folobatuyi, yes women should be held accountable for their actions as well........its just that i find that women are being held to a much higher standard than most men..........which to me is not fair. RadioRaheem......you seem to have a dislike for women in their 30's........and im going to assume youre in your 30's, and not married, etc. (if this is not true, then i apologize). Personally, I believe there is some truth to this...especially the part where the author advised men to "never listen to what a woman says -- always pay attention to what she actually does instead." I would modify that to say that as a guy, one should not only hear or listen to what a woman says but also observe and keep note on what she does...much more telling and true. As to the role of money and the need for sex as items of attraction women see in men...both are factors but I think it is...

When African-American women talk about how this state of affairs is impacting their lives, why can't you all respectfully acknowledge what you are hearing and reading? It was her choice to date/pursue Joe Thug and Ray-ray and thus it was her 'fault' when they let her down. If you sleep with dogs, you just might wake up with fleas and puppies!!! I would conclude that many young black women make very poor dating choices early in their dating lives. It seems, like Dr Audrey Chapman*******[link below with highlighted quote] has concluded, that many black women are looking to be a savior in their quest to attempt to try to change a bad boy into a good man..as oppose to starting out with a good man and building from there. While I've never seen one of her shows, you brought up an interesting point about stage performances. It's been more than 5 years since I've seen anything other than primarily instrumental jazz performances. Why? because too many vocal "artists" can't do live, what they do in the studio. And, those that come close to approaching their studio efforts, spend more time on their scripted to the minute routine and it comes across as the umpteenth time they've performed it. one of the reasons why the black man shortage myth is just that is because not all of the women in that 'ratio' are desireable or seeking positive men in their lives. Women are quick to eliminate men who are non-degreed, but never eliminate women with kids. Which is a 'harder' dating situation?? dating a degree-less man or dating a babymomma? I think the babymomma is harder because her kids must come first in her life and require a great deal of her time. Also, what if the kids don't like...

Because women think with their vaginas -- that is, they use their awesome sexual power to control, manipulate, and get what they want from men. And men let them get away with it. I don't know if women think with their vaginas but they do know a man's sexual appetite is usually a trillion times hers, so by default she probably has to think with her vagina to have some sort of control. A woman hates a "player" because she has no sexual power over him and cannot manipulate him, yet still finds...

And adding to your response, I would like to say that, again, not every failed relationship that a Black woman experiences is the result of her selecting 2-bit hustlers, drug dealors, and losers off the streets.
