Re: The 'Promised Land': Why We're Still Waiting

NO! It is exactly that unbalance relationship that leads to a stalled, halted or forsaken "dialogue." Arguably, people could say Dr. King and Pres. Lydon Johnson started a "dialogue." For sure, a number of common folk or community leaders, mostly educators and religious leaders have had "dialogues." But hardly any thing that can be regarded as a serious "dialogue" where it counts, in the halls of power. As for Clinton's deal, you can research and look for opinions about that "conversation".

I don't know why some of you are so hell bent on defending the right to debate.. I didn't deny the need for that at any point in my post. I just pondered why there is an overwhelming amount of pitting us against each other, and a lack of unification. I suggested bringing us together LIVE to discuss topics. That is a way to bring us TOGETHER to chat. Perhaps not unifying us on a topic, but bringing us together as a COMMUNITY. We are all very different, and its great to discuss our...

I actually "stole it" from another chat board. A particular member was making use of it as Noah the African could tell you. I first saw the picture and was touched by the POWER and the SYMBOLISM of it. It is a picture of (I assume) an innocent African child who is hungry and unprotected. The vulture in the background doesn't care about his race, global politics or any violation of the human rights of this child. To the hungry vulture this HUMAN is nothing but a PIECE OF MEAT that might fill...

EbonyRose, now that you've brought this up, it did have more participants than the one in Atlanta. Unfortunately for the people who had to speak after Min. Another thing that I did like was the fact that he did bring up the spiritual side of the issue, when the two other ministers on the panel...

yes, HB, I was very much in my own mindset here and totally oblivious to the less than a year's dating concept. My bad. After 3 outings however, I'd be expecting Mr Iceman to defrost and reveal his real self. Or as close as he can get. For me, 'just dating' is more like socializing. If both of you enjoy each others' company, it doesn't have to actually lead somewhere, but for me, I would rather put more energy into sustaining either long term friendships or long term relationships. I agree with both of you. Since I don't chat, and only "instant message" people I know personally, my percentage is based strictly on message boards. Generally, I don't question a person's genuineness. Unless, there is an obvious red flag such as if he or she claims to have a Master's degree but their grammar/writing style is that of a D- high school student. Or a person claiming to be black and concern about our issues but is gender bashing or degrading the black community in every post.

Men should say they don't want to be on the phone, or that they aren't going to be able to call back. But I have witnesses, since my teen years, that often women would take that 'truth' as a sign that the man doesn't like them, or they won't accept what the guy is saying, and they then manipulate the men into committing to calling them back as a condition of getting off of the phone pleasantly.(even if they have no intention to call back, are busy, and have expressed that fact prior to the...

Why is it that I don't need anyone to use a special "language of engagement" to talk to me? Why do you need one? What's wrong with English? I don't think that you're actually going to adress my arguments in any language.
