I have no problem w/ getting a cosmetology "certificate" for hair braiders.. Maybe the schools should change their game up and offer certificate programs that include some type of braiding training.. But the general education on hair care, general shop training and the like should not be a problem for anyone. In suburban Atlanta there is a BRAND NEW HIGH SCHOOL - Mundy's Mill HS. Last year was their first year of operation. This high school with brand new books, brand new building and kids that are a mix of solid middle class Blacks and moderate income Blacks HAD PROBLEMS WITH GANGS and experienced shootings after a school football game and then at an off campus party. When I said 'AF' I meant Armed Forces, as in all of them, not particularly the Air Force. According to what I read, 30% of the Armed Forces are African American. That's more than double over-representation. I say the reason they pick it is because it's a secure middle class job. I've worked for minimum wage and been in the Teamsters, and I'll tell you that there was no way for anybody 19 years old to be making 36k with just 6 years of seniority. Leastaways not in my local. The Bmore police/city didn't want to have to explain how they 'forgot' a van seat belt, even though four of the six officers were involved in his care in the van. $6.4 mill might seem like a lot, but they would have gotten much more if they would have had a jury by trial.
