Re: College "Education" Is BS

toussaint ·
That's actually correct for the most part. We have state capitalism thanks to the regulations that are implemented by politicians under the guise of "protecting name your cause". People see the problems caused by our state capitlism, and blame the free market, when it is by definition not a free market. You mean the US and EU bullying other countries with trade barriers and farm subsidies? You're pretty much correct again. All the "free trade" agreements aren't really free trade. Just...

You're proving my point. Thank you. None of my comments were a defense of Bush. So, I have no idea why you replied to my post with attacks on "dubya." At this point, he seems to be about as statist as the Democrats and is part of the problem. He's doing the same thing that the Dems are doing/would do, making promises with other peoples money- mostly young people's money or that of those whom have not yet been born. You may think this is fine and dandy as long as the politicians say it will...

Full Text: The Second Civil War Truth about Hate for the First Black President Gabrielle Giffords: Casualty of the Second Civil War with 2 comments It’s always astonishing to witness the pathological denial that substitutes for reality in this country, but the levels reached in the last two weeks set an entirely new clinical standard. The common and preposterous delusion that this country is ‘past’ slavery, racism, or hate has been obliterated in all but Biblical fashion, yet people still...

The two races weren't meant to live on the same turf. The ONLY way race relations would improve is if they all moved back to Europe and dealt with nothing black ever including shoes and shoelaces.

College "Education" Is BS

Ugh, I have to say, as much as I love college, half of me almost hates it at the same time! Everybody always assumes that colleges educate and teach students to think for themselves. People assume that college is a place where independent thoughts,...

A Very Sick Country

Published on Monday, April 2, 2012 by Common Dreams A Very Sick Country by David Michael Green So. It looks now like the regressive majority on the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement, his health care bill. (Getty image) That is so fitting. More than that, it is also a reminder of just how sick this country truly is. Imagine that the lab returned the results from your battery of blood work tests, and all the indicators were screaming out...

John McCain Authors Bill to Detain Americans Indefinitely without Trial

WASHINGTON D.C. – The man once held as a P.O.W. and tortured after his A4E-SKYHAWK jet was shot down during the Vietnam War has authored a bill entitled, “ S.3081 – Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010 ” which thus far has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The bill outlines the process by which Americans may be held indefinitely, without notice of their Miranda Rights, and without ever being charged with a crime. Worse detainment of an...

To totally rely on one source or a set of a few soures is dangerous because it teeters very close to the mindset of Fundamentalist religionists. This conversation kind of reminds me of an economic debate I had a year ago. A Marxist kept quoting Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin to support everything he said, and a Libertarian kept quoting Murray Rothbard and Ayn Rand to support everything he said. The Marxist would call you a "capitalist imperialist" if you disagreed with Lenin and the...

Here is the central problem as I see it The "afrocentrists" here seem time after time after time to quote only four or five scholars (John Henrik Clarke or Cheik Anta Diop, etc.) .... Again and again and again. Effectively using them as one would use religious texts. As final unquestionable authorities. What you don't seem to realize is that this is NOT a healthy way to use scholarship. A healthy scholarly debate involves multiple sources, healthy disagreement between dozens if not of...

By what means are you judging the "value" of what someone has put into something? And if you're suggesting that someone is "losing" simply because a profit is made, that is simply incorrect. For instance, if I go and buy a candy bar that I want from the store for $1, who profits? The answer is that we both profit. I had more use for the candy bar than the dollar and the store owner had more use for the dollar than the candy bar. In this way we have both profited , in that we both have...

The most economically successful (in terms of wealth distribution and economic stability) countries in the world right now are Market Socialist and Social Democrat countries. Pesonally, I'm somewhere between a Libertarian Socialist and a Democratic Socialist, I'm also a Syndicalist and I have some heavy Anarchist influences and some Marxist influences. I don't agree with Marxists who believe in authoritarian approaches or Marxists who believe in collective state ownership. I'm a rather...

Well, I've changed since then. That post was in 2006. I now consider myself a Black Anarchist (ie. Black Libertarian Socialist taken to its conclusion). I'm anti-hierarchy and I believe in Black people taking back control of our land and resources, direct democracy, federalism, and direct worker/consumer ownership of the economy and society. I'm also anti-racist and anti-patriarchy. I think the advantage of my views is that it allows people the negative freedom to be free from the coercion...

Alright, WHAT REALLY HAPPENED Christianity became a recognizable sect of Judaism around 70 AD in Israel and eventually spread to North Africa, Egypt and Saudi Arabia around 120 AD (many of the early Church Fathers were African or Middle Eastern). It became a seperate religion around 140 AD. It wasn't really a political religion until the Roman Empire began enforcing higher taxes, more imperialism and Emperor-Worship in the Near East. Christianity was a quite communist-like religion. It...

There are reasons for opposing/supporting both of the aforementioned policies without being "racist." A person can make a principled stand against all racial prefences, which is what affirmative action has become unfortunately. Anyway, I'd argue that welfare and regulation have had longer-lasting and deeper negative affects on the black community than either of the policies you've mentioned. The government schools that you and the democrats so ardently protect have been disasterous to blacks...

Income and Wealth are two very different things. You could have two men who have an income of $100,000 per year. One man works a job five days a week mostly with an occasional six or seven days at crunch time. The other man owns $1,000,000 of income property which is managed by a real estate company which takes its cut and sends him a check every month. One man can lose his job and lose his income. Our economic nitwits who call themselves economists spend too much time emphasizing income and...

Cuba's healthcare may be good, but it is still statist. However, there have been strides to make it more like Venezuela's health care in the sense of making it more...
