Im somewhat lost (but not really) as to why columnist continue to write and act as if the OWS movements either dont understand this or don 't get it. I think although we are experiencing an unprecedented job crisis in our economy, I do believe we've been here before. The exception is a lotta us live beyond our means-even though prices to survive are high. However, I remember how my parents strategized the family budget and instead of going outside the rim of their financial abilties, cut corners and did a lot of things themselves. We don't do that anymore. A lotta of us depend on fast foods to feed our families-don't cook as we used to,...

Laziness and "living within your means" are two of the myths that have been repeatedly debunked yet continue to be a major part of commentary no matter where this subject comes up. The idea of living within your means is very attractive to those who stress the need for self responsibility and accountability. The problem is that social economic conditions are just that---social. When we are told to 'live within our means' what is almost always ignored is the declining value of "your means".

Children mean nothing in the US. Corporations are the real people. Money is more important than children in the US. That is why the rulers allow untested GMO food into the mainstream. Lunch should be prepared on site but every decision is based on the needs of corporate money. That means forget about edible, healthy food.

You are right about that. Our government has been allowing corporate America to feed American children garbage in school since they integrated the schools in America and the more our politicians sold out the health of American children, the worst the garbage public schools were allowed to feed children got. At least fix your kids a healthy breakfast before leaving for school, and it would be better to make them a health lunch to take as well, [although they are probably going to eat that slop at school for lunch anyway]. (I think some schools still have soft drink machines and allow fast food restaurants to serve at high schools).

Michael, listen, by really giving more, $$,$$$,$$$, you will exemplify a spirit of generosity in how we help one another and connect with one another. You want that?! Meet the challenge like a great man. By giving greatly, you will emanate real care to all. You still get to keep your millions and millions, but now you exemplify fatherly care to your people by creating institutions, for example, that economically lift up the youth. Will you do all that? If not, you should be bitch-slapped!
