Re: Louisiana Makes Bold Bid To Privatize Public Education

African America is going to have to see where they stand on this issue. On the one hand, our children would be better off if we could open our own schools in our own communities (and Churches). On the other hand, if we assist in de-funding public schools, where will our children be educated at when they change the game on us? (and they always do). Or, should African Americans fight like hell against this, which is going nationwide, and do whatever it takes to make ALL Public Schools better...

That is bold. Where does the left stand on this? Will they try to block this privatization of the school system? I predict if Louisiana passes this, it will be a matter of months before every state tries the same thing. And illiteracy will be back at 1789 America.

Back in the day, Charter schools used to be a good idea. For me? Not some much anymore. I once preferred charter over regular unified schools but now I see the damage some of 'em in community have done. The ones I really concern myself are the religious ones. Cuz the focus to me isn't teaching the children...and like the article says more about competing against regular schools for the SAME funding. Only folks to lose on this are the children. Great article!! I like the way it really broke things down. What it didn't plainly say, though is that: Privatization is the textbook/Bible of the Republican/Conservative agenda. It's what makes so many of them very, very rich ... and leaves the country - the government and it's citizens - broke and deficit-ridden.

You will not escape the internal logic of Capitalism unless you directly challenge it as a system. Notice that while the title of the article suggest corruption while the article itself walks through the logical outcomes when "the concept of treating inmates as commodities that must be grown for profit." Whenever you read words like "marketplace" and "incentives" dealing with any aspect of a social service.....people would be wise to through up a red flag.

Wayward dogs go to the Dog Pound. Prisons should be renamed the African Pound, because there's really no difference in treatment. In reality, the Dog Pound's probably much more safe. Locked in a building, in a cage. So animalistic!!

What was so great about the schools before 2001? We did not have tablets and netbooks before 2001. So Maybe we should just bypass the paleface controlled so called educational system anyway. Do some research and they claim accounting was invented in Italy 700 years ago but they can't make accounting mandatory for White kids So has school really been nothing but controlled miseducation all along? If they had made accounting mandatory for the last 50 years maybe all of these economic problems...

That is a reason for a National Recommended Reading List even if it has to be created by parents. I have been hearing about school reform for as long as I can remember. So if children that want to learn just had a list of great books with short descriptions of what was great about them then lots...

Billions of dollars blew away in Iraq!!! White folks waste heaps of money and lose it too! If they do away with Private Prisons, there are enough prisons in the Prison Industrial System for SLAVERY to prevail. They have some weapons and furniture and only Sky God knows what else, that has to be built. Can't spend $15.00 an hour; $1.50 a year will more than serve the purpose as far as pay is concerned, per person.
