About 200,000 black troops served in the Union forces during the Civil War. Encouraged by such abolitionists as Frederick Douglass to enlist, blacks composed about 12 percent of all Union soldiers. More than 38,000 died of wounds, disease, or sometimes execution when they were captured by Confederates. Twenty-three won the Medal of Honor for heroism. Although the men were forced to serve in segregated units, discriminated against in pay, assignments, and rank, the black troops were an...

Christ, where do I start... Horsesh*t. There were two major contributing factors to the end of slavery and neither one had anything to do with the good graces of the slave holders. First, at the end of the 100 years war between England and France, both nations abolished slavery as a part of the treaty. They did this, presumably, because the economic advantage of slavery would have undone their stalemate if only one of them had it. But it became threatening for America to be the only Atlantic...

I quess on the average conservatives are more annoying but liberals trying to prove they are not prejudiced can be pretty repulsive. So I guess it is back to individual evaluation. I think that Lincoln gets way to much credit for this. He wrote in a letter, just before the beginning of the Civil War, that his "greatest concern is to save the Union. I agree with Rowe, even though you might be in the minority, you must stand by your ideas. Look to date men that share your beliefs... they are around... there are probably more virgin men by choice than you realize. However, it would be difficult, not impossible for someone that is already sexually active to be expected to wait for marriage to have sex (again). Joining Christian singles groups does not guarantee you will meet a man that will want to abstain from sex until marriage.

By Sunnubian I am not sure where you practice law, but in NJ, child support is calculated based on both incomes, thereafter, the non-custodial parent, pays in cash or check directly to the cusotidal parent or to the child support office[in NJ it is called the Probation Department], who converts the cash into a check that is either deposited directly into the custodial parent's account or mailed to him or her. You have to ask what we/they/us/you/I think freedom really is? From OUR prospective we live under the illusion of freedom. This song represents my new found definition of freedom and the definition that is used by White men: "You are only as free as your ability to MAINTIAN and PROTECT your freedom. If you can't do this then you are not truley free." Which is why they are big on the "right to bare arms". That is why 9/11 was such a jolt to their system. They KNEW they couldn't be touched.
