Following his training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, DAVID OYELOWO was offered the 1999 season at the UK's Royal Shakespeare Company, playing roles in Volpone and Oroonoko. The following season, he became the first Black actor to play an English monarch for the RSC, taking the title role in Henry VI. This performance won him the Ian Charleson Award in 2001 for Best Newcomer in a Classical Play. David Oyelowo (born on 1 April 1976) is a British actor. He was born in Oxford,...

Quoted from the article, these are things that Republicans are suing Democrats for: It's pretty pathetic that this is the best that black conservatives can do. The fact is that above and beyond any party affiliations, it is conservative ideology that was behind everything listed above. What does that say about conservatives that they are attacking Democrats because of their previous conservative positions?

Re: Some sobering statistics on poverty

Pace Tua ·
Unfortunately, these numbers and what they mean have become "normalized", in the sense put forward by Edward Herman in his book "Triumph of the Market". It can only be so, as capitalism panders to the uncontrolled greed and self-interest of the few. These statistics have to be accepted, normalized or else people would realize something is wrong and this is a threat to capitalist culture. And there is a method to all this as well. One of the cornerstones is to promote the banality of evil.

I suppose that argument would have some merit in Palestine, but that situation isn't comparable to what is happening in northern Europe. Muslims in Scandinavia especially are far from ocupied--hell, they willingly migrated there to escape the poverty and extremism of their own countries! Part three... The sudden drop in income for small farmers resulted in widespread famine, as farmers no longer had income with which to purchase food. The consequence for the Rwandan state elite was just as devastating; the money required to maintain the position of the rulers had come from coffee, tin, and foreign aid. With the first two gone, foreign aid became even more critical, so the Rwandan elite needed more than ever to maintain state power in order to maintain access to that aid.
