Yes, Black people should put white people's fears at ease. Instead of letting the poor white man suffer through an entire train ride, watching you and clutching his bag, just rob him blind as soon as you get on the train so you both can relax. Etc. Dear Art-girl, My understanding of the difference in the pigmententation btw the various racial groups lies in the relative amounts of melanin in the melanocytes that lie in the skin. It has been said that everyone has the same number of melanocytes (melanin producing cells) but the ones in darker complexioned folks produce more of the dark pigment melanin...which in my opinion would confirm the commonality of man as one race and the varying amounts of melanin being reflective of the region...

I saw the show. It was very interesting to me because I'm bi-racial. The question that kept comming to me about that mother was, "How do you act white? Is there a specific way that white people act?" The mother also said she thought her daughter wasn't black enough. So, of course, similar questions present themselves,"How black is black enough? How does one portray blackness?" I think the mother's unaddressed problem is that her daughter is more than half-white. She has very Aryan features...

I agree with you that Pam is hotter than Gina...at least physically hotter. The problem is that Pam is dark-skinned (not that it's anything wrong with it), Gina is lighter-skinned, and that when you usually have TWO good-looking black women together (of different complexions), they have to be competitive to a point. Also, the darker-skinned character Pam is unfortunately casted as a "sapphire", a shrewish selfish, inconsiderate black female character. Besides, knowing about the skin color...

Sister Kola speaks volumes in her discussion about race and beauty in America. Her thorough discussion about the ways in which the White supremacist concept of whiteness has impacted people globally is reminiscent of the research done by Neely Fuller and Dr. Francis Welsing. Not that Jones was'nt a beautiful woman (if not odd), but being that Europe, is the cradle of white supremacy, their appreciation suggests something deeper, more than a 'simple' appreciation of aesthetics. IMO, the attraction is rooted in the signifying, displacement, projection or othering that is part of white supremacy. If one sets up these binaries of white/black, good/bad, chase/sexual and libidinous, saintly/sinner one will see this phenomenon of love/hate. Women of color have historically been portrayed as sexual, erotic, alluring, dark and mysterious as well as ugly, undesirable, and repulsive. The "other" both attracts and repells. It fascinates and terrifies.

His use of 'rape' as the methodology for the transformation of an independent consciousness, into a(n) dependent/interdependent consciousness is, different, But is'nt that what happened to the African, the rape of one people, powerfully and completely by another?
