how old is your friend? If she is over 30, then it sounds like she is taking the best deal on the table. I'm from the MD area, educated in DC[Georgetown U], returned to DC after grad school and have found that black women are the least approachable women of the all. Many DC black men agree with me on this. That's why there are so many mixed couples in the surrounding areas, i.e. Northern VA, PG County, Gaitherburg MD, Bethesda MD, and Silver Spring MD...have you ever been to Georgetown??

1. I don't think it is a sign of a mental illness, just a reality check. Older women that desire motherhood have to do whatever it takes to get to that goal...and time is running out. 2. I think that older women have to 'fall in line' when it comes with their desire to be a wife and mom. I know from personal experiences in dating women well over 30 that marriage/child questions on a first or second date is a real downer!! But what choice does she really have? Based upon the onus you place on their backs, why do you call them "victims"? Please explain. A woman has been repeatedly abused by her husband over the years. She walks into the police station, finally, seeking protection and relief. CF looks at her and says, "What are you prepared to do to change to help your situation?" First of all - she has taken the first step and is at the damned police station. Second of all, that she has survived as long as she has is a testament to her personal...

Folobatuyi, yes women should be held accountable for their actions as well........its just that i find that women are being held to a much higher standard than most men..........which to me is not fair. RadioRaheem......you seem to have a dislike for women in their 30's........and im going to assume youre in your 30's, and not married, etc. (if this is not true, then i apologize). But my question is........what makes you any different, than a woman in her 30's?

From all the back and forth that we – black men and women – do, it would appear that can be said for both sides. One rule I think all people should follow is "Don't ask of others what you are not willing or able to do yourself in return". I always find it funny see a fat, bald, bad dressing brother who has his mind set on dating a super model. We can get a beer belly and look like a dressed up Easter egg but let woman put a little baby weight and men are ready to trade them in. And then you...

Personally, I believe there is some truth to this...especially the part where the author advised men to "never listen to what a woman says -- always pay attention to what she actually does instead." I would modify that to say that as a guy, one should not only hear or listen to what a woman says but also observe and keep note on what she does...much more telling and true. As to the role of money and the need for sex as items of attraction women see in men...both are factors but I think it is...

As for the big guy running around the block an extra time, or going out of his way.... for myself, as a white woman, if a big guy (of any race) was getting in an elevator with me alone late at night, then just a smile from anyone would make me feel at ease if I felt uneasy. I guess both men/women can only see their side of things...because of experiences. But i have issues with those that 'want' more than they 'are'. As Sweetwuzzy mentioned..... I agree. So why can't we "be real" about Black men's situation in this country? When African-American women talk about how this state of affairs is impacting their lives, why can't you all respectfully acknowledge what you are hearing and reading? Whenever an African-American woman tells people about how the deterioration of her community is impacting her future, all she gets are expressions of disbelief and denial, followed by a list of general dating tips. It was her choice to date/pursue Joe Thug and Ray-ray and thus it was her 'fault' when they let her down. If you sleep with dogs, you just might wake up with fleas and puppies!!! I would conclude that many young black women make very poor dating choices early in their dating lives. It seems, like Dr Audrey Chapman*******[link below with highlighted quote] has concluded, that many black women are looking to be a savior in their quest to attempt to try to change a bad boy into a good man..as oppose to starting out with a good man and building from there. "Women think with their vaginas"???? Puh-leeeeeeeze.... YOUNG women, maybe... who tragically, mistakenly think they don't have anything else to offer. Women with sense (and class) do NOT think this way AT ALL. Because women think with their vaginas -- that is, they use their awesome sexual power to control, manipulate, and get what they want from men. And men let them get away with it. I don't know if women think with their vaginas but they do know a man's sexual appetite is usually a trillion times hers, so by default she probably has to think with her vagina to have some sort of control. A woman hates a "player" because she has no sexual power over him and cannot manipulate him, yet still finds...

And adding to your response, I would like to say that, again, not every failed relationship that a Black woman experiences is the result of her selecting 2-bit hustlers, drug dealors, and losers off the streets. That is a very good point. What exactly is "hyperaggressiveness"? For one person to be observed as more aggressive than another is one thing. Not really. Having dated women with children and known them I think it is wise for a person to keep the parenting and relationship separate until it is clear that the relationship will be for the long haul. The main concern is for the child. If the single parent continues to introduce people to the child as a "potential" parent and the relationship ends as they can and do, it could have an impact on the child. And I personally don't have respect for a woman that would place a stranger above...

Black Viking , wouldn't you want your children's input before you got engaged or too entangled in a relationship? IME, it's much more difficult for a child to think of their parent as single or casually dating and then BAM! all of a sudden they introduce you to their fiance. A child would think "Holy shit!
