Peace... "Promiscuous women should be praised Randy Woock There is a plethora of pejorative words used to derogatorily refer to a sexually uninhibited woman. Why are there so many negative synonyms for a woman whose sexual mores aren't in line with the Judeo-Christian ideal? Why do we only use pejorative terms to describe a woman who isn't a fervent practitioner of monogamy? Why no complimentary terms? I propose we stop reviling the sexually promiscuous woman and venerate her instead. Why?

The biggest thing that is stuck in my brain from reading this first Covenant is the extraordinary disparity in the quality of life as it relates to health that African Americans suffer versus whites. I suspect that most of these kids (many of whome are US citizens) really do know what they are protesting about. What really sparked this was the House Immigration Bill HR 4437, which would Criminalize a whole class of people, including their parents. That seems like a pretty good motivation to march to me. There have been protests by immigrants in the past, but these marches aparently dwarf past marches. But their families and communities are under attack by this bill. Whole communities of...

I'm sorry that this thread devolved into personal attacks. I wished we could have dealt with the issue and not with the people. That said, I certainly understand why the discussion went where it did. When one's identity is attacked it is hard not to respond defensively/offensively. Firt of all... I've got to see this film! IMO, that extrapolation doesn't go deep enough. That's why it's confusing. It wasn't agriculture vs. industiral. It was about money. Slavery was causing economic porblems for the North, and at the same time they weren't making much money off of it. The South, on the other hand, was totally dependant. For them, it was like choosing between being a multi-millionaire and being homeless. There really was no middle ground. It was about money. Great book!
