Frenchy None of us are easily separated from our misconceptions and stereotypes. If I spot a white man wearing dark clothing and a shaved head with tattoos on his body... he's a skinhead. If he doesn't attack me, he is a skinhead in a particularly generous mood. He is not going to do or say anything to put me at complete ease. I presume the opposite is also true. ___________________________________________________ This is so true. The important thing is not to embarass the other person by...

Re: MBM: WHERE'S THE UNIFICATION?

Rowe ·
Um, it may have something to do with the fact that you are in the Issues/Politics forum? Politics, much like religion and racial matters are very controversial subjects. You will find people everywhere, not just Blacks in particular, who are divided on these issues. Therefore, trying to get members on the board to reach some sort of unified concensus is unrealistic, in my opinion. However, I think what you are noticing, as a new member, is an ongoing, rather hostile and verbally explicit...

Tell me about it. Actually I would use the word confidence, but then again I've never met any shy arrogant people. Btw, do you know how much does a landscaper makes? Would they be considered as a "blue collar" worker or "white collar" worker? I'm just curious because there's a movie coming out this weekend called Something New starring Sanaa Latham, I think. It's about a black female professional who falls in love with a white male landscaper. The movie looks interesting.

Blue Collar vs. White Collar can be very misleading when it comes to salaries. Some so-called blue collar jobs can earn more than some white collar jobs. For example, a construction worker - especially a skilled one - can earn more than some desk jobs. I think the distinction is more about the nature of the work. Blue collar is manual labor. It's physical. So I'd call a landscaper blue collar definitely. But everyone knows that a white landscaper is worth more than a brother who works in a...

This is sad. I wish I lived in your town! I can honestly say I would never walk passed you in a club. But, , I've found that clubs aren't the best place to find quality women anyway. Not that they are not there, just that the entire environment is loaded with preconceptions that make it difficult to actually get to know someone, even superficially. I sure the same goes for men. Would you really want the attention of one of these men, under these circumstances?

I am amazed that some of you still do not believe this, it was said on national TV with Harry Belafonte sitting next to the man saying it, Ebony you were in the audience and you do not recall this being said? None of you have the State of the Black Union Recorded so that you can go back and see for yourselves? This weekend I will qoute the exact words stated by brother Cornell so that all of you can see and read the truth.

Re: The Disgraceful King Children...

I remember it because it was mentioned when Mr. Belafonte was announced onto the stage. Tavis said that he was originally invited and then "unceremoniously uninvited" were his words. Again, I think it was just trifling.

Re: The Disgraceful King Children...

Exactly....it was Tavis not Cornell that mentioned it and those are the words he used. The State of the Black Union is streamed over on The Final Call website. The thing is he was actually uninvited, literally told not to come. The streams are on the left hand side near the bottom of the page.

I hear the same thing from friends that practice law. But I have heard and seen what Shango talks about. The courst favor the mothers. And you would have to prove the mother to be a axe murder before they give the father sole custody. And what does "joint custody" mean?
