Regardless of the consideration for what is the "right" or "wrong" way to decide ... I wouldn't expect this Supreme Court to side with the Obama Administration on this issue. It would be different if the SC were truly an unbiased, non-partisan judicial body. But, they're not! They are split down politically-biased lines - with the Conservatives in the majority - and I believe that is the way most of their decisions will fall. I think the 2000 selection of GeeDubya as president proved that.

One thing I find absolutely fascinating about Wolff's reading of Marx is the focus on surplus. Power is a popular theme in assumptions concerning class, but it doesn't have to be the central focus (important though it is). @Kweil If people in the US didn't freak out over the word, much of the economic issue would be easier to see. Ironically in places that have histories of war and distruction under "right wing socialism" do not exhibit the type of fear and hysteria over Marxian material.

I was talking to my nephew and his wife earlier this evening about sports, and I told them that what I really loved about football is that it was a WAR out there on the football field!! In basketball it's more like a bunch of guys running around playing with each other. But football is two teams in combat . And I like that! But ...
