Mainstream people have "no problem" accpeting this. How can they feel at ease while sparks are brewing with Aborigines and racist marginalized white youths. Mmmh aboriginal ancestor what are you telling me. The "mainstream" may have deals in the works in Sudan and this is a just political move on their part. They are not bringing...

I'm rather apathetic about death. It's gonna come, so I just hope that when it does, it isn't particularly gruesome or painful. Most people don't get the chance to make that choice, though.

IMHO heaven, hell, and earth are the same place. What, after all, is paradise? What knowledge do we have of it? In fact, when we try to imagine it don't we just extrapolate from our earthly experiences? I mean we imagine seeing loved ones, maybe we'll relive our best memories, love, happiness, etc. Ditto for hell.

The first time I heard Erykah Badu was in the wee hours of the morning on the overnight radio show they played her first single "On & On" and my boyfriend at the time woke me up to listen to it. After that I kept hearing the song but didn't know who sang it. Then I was home from college on some break (I think Thanksgiving or Winter Break) and she was on BET with Big Les (remember her?) and they were at her house. It didn't even seem like an interview it was just like watching a visit to...

While I've never seen one of her shows, you brought up an interesting point about stage performances. It's been more than 5 years since I've seen anything other than primarily instrumental jazz performances. Why? because too many vocal "artists" can't do live, what they do in the studio. And, those that come close to approaching their studio efforts, spend more time on their scripted to the minute routine and it comes across as the umpteenth time they've performed it. I wish we could go back...

one of the reasons why the black man shortage myth is just that is because not all of the women in that 'ratio' are desireable or seeking positive men in their lives. Women are quick to eliminate men who are non-degreed, but never eliminate women with kids. Which is a 'harder' dating situation?? dating a degree-less man or dating a babymomma? I think the babymomma is harder because her kids must come first in her life and require a great deal of her time. Also, what if the kids don't like...

Yes - it makes perfect sense in Buddhism - the souls come back to continue on their path to enlightenment. I've just never heard an explanation on it from the Christian tradition where the disincentive seem so overwhelming to NOT come back to Earth.

I'm asking the question - not making a statement. Your insight is what I'm looking for here. Where do souls come from? They go to Heaven but are conjured from . . .? God is in Heaven. Wouldn't it seem reasonable to think that He creates new souls there? In thinking about it, I guess the question in and of itself is probably contrary to Christianity - since reincarnation is probably not embraced in the Christian tradition (is it?). Your thoughts? P.S. The concept of souls coming down to Earth...

I think we know the tricks and games of our own gender in more detail. For example, I am usually a better judge of character when it comes to the women my male friends/relatives are dating than they are. Some people are obvious, but there are often times when I have pegged a girl for being a gold digger or 'ho' or just plain coniving way before they have a clue.

Hmmm...that's probably due to Augustinian influence in Christian thought. Modern Christianity took Augustine's philosophy that the material world is something of a "curse", and that physical bodies are crass and disgusting. Many Christian basically view the body as little more than a prison for an idealized fluffy, wraith-like soul. That's why I find Tantric Buddhist philosophy on the soul so refreshing. It goes beyond this Cartesian Dualism of "body" and "soul", and it describes the body...
