how old is your friend? If she is over 30, then it sounds like she is taking the best deal on the table. I'm from the MD area, educated in DC[Georgetown U], returned to DC after grad school and have found that black women are the least approachable women of the all. Many DC black men agree with me on this. That's why there are so many mixed couples in the surrounding areas, i.e. Northern VA, PG County, Gaitherburg MD, Bethesda MD, and Silver Spring MD...have you ever been to Georgetown??

Young people make many mistakes. When I was in high school all the guys really went for the homecoming queen/prom queen types. How many of the most popular girls in your high schools are now sitting at home or in some dead end job with way to many kids by a bunch of different guys and/or on drugs? What are "fashion" trends for men anyway. What can you really do? Aren't most of these "makeover" shows for women/white people. Is'n most fashion for women? She came to speak at my undergrad school quite a few times but I always missed it. I always say I am going to buckle down and read the coldest winter ever but never get around to it. I grew up hearing about her from an aunt, who back in the day was very pro black and militant. i have seen her speak on tv several times but haven't gotten any of her literature as of yet.

Second, most schools are built with a combination of local, state, and federal funding hence your assumption that building schools somehow reduces per student funding does not necessarily apply. You are correct, sir. That whole competition argument is absolutely bogus! Private schools choose the students they want to accept into their institution, public schools take every child within their district , whether they speak English as a first language, regardless of their ability to buy their own lunch, uniform, or pay for their field trips, whether they are C students or make regular appearances on the honor roll.

There have been plenty of studies done on racial disparities on medical treatment. SOME have shown that even Black practitioners provide a lower standard of care to Black patients. In my view it has to do with the amount of insurance that is available to the individual based on the job that they work, the general standard of the medical facility itself (as compared to one in a more wealthy facility and YES plain ole racism. I read the Coldest Winter Ever and didn't find it as profound as a lot of people make it out to be.
