Re: Pope: Embryo = "Full and complete human being"

Empty Purnata ·
So let me get this straight, A ZYGOTE IS AS MUCH OF A HUMAN BEING AS ME? A zygote is no more a full human than skin cells. A zygote is "alive", but no more alive than a skin cell, or a hair follicle, or a tissue cell. If you think a zygote deserves the rights of a born human, then you should also extend those same rights to skin cells. Scratching your arm should be considered muder (you kill several thousand cells every time you scratch yourself). Come on folks, Romanticism should have it's...

A few years ago, I saw one of Bill Maher's 'Politically Incorrect' segments. One of his guests was the wife of the Courtney Vance. Maher mentioned something Bird Expedition that prompted her to identify Matthew Henson as the first man (meaning of course the first non-native) to reach the North Pole. Maher took strong exception, and alluded to the tendency for African Americans to 'claim credit for things'. There was a convenient commercial break. When the program returned, Maher apologized...

Between this and the release of the new Erykah Badu CD, today so far has been a great day. I actually knew he'd run when I saw him last week on Bill Maher. He didn't say anything specific, but he sounded extremely presidential in the things he said. But I think so highly of Clark that I'm strongly considering becoming involved in his campaign.

First Huey, baby, you articulated that differently than Raheem. You didn't interject racial differences in "bad boy" lusts among young women that are unsupported. And Asian American men are also claimed to be better fathers. Asian American men have complained about the same superficiality you claim but they at least have...

It was not a joke about the 'institution' of slavery, nor a joke about the cruelty of slavery. It was a joke about status that used the contrasting positions of the "house 'slave' and the "field" 'slave' as an analogy. I do agree that it was a poor choice of an anology, but I also acknowledge that he did not say anything insulting to anyone Black/African American or those held hostage as 'slaves'. After the legislature meets for a final vote, Governor Rick Snyder will decide this week whether to sign the bill into law.
