It is can be either- whatever direction they are given re strategic policy of the government of the day. The part that everyone likes to miss is that the interception of telcom in and out of the US has been going on for decades. Think about it... the US does this with its allies so I listen to your people and I listen to yours and then we trade the information. Agents of the state (whether Fed, State or local police) depending on the circumstances do engage from time to time in unlawful acts...

I'm a Taoist as well. Some wise man whose name I can't recall said "It's the how of living that matters, not the how long." That being said, my own death doesn't scare me. What scares me is losing one of my loved ones before I'm ready to lose them. I don't think we miss the world when we die, but there is a good chance that the world misses us. As far as my passing, I could care less when I die, so long as I die well. Another wise man whose name I can't remember said "There are only two ways...

nikcara, You have more than one point in your post. I will try to address them, but I hope you can forgive me if I miss one or two. Do we have differing definitions of "Christian"? What is a Christian to you? Yes, Christians do differ on issues, but they differ usually because they've started from different points of view. They have different conclusions about the world to begin with, thus they have certain differences in their worldviews, which is part of the point that I made originally.

I read the Coldest Winter Ever and didn't find it as profound as a lot of people make it out to be. It is an interesting read and Souljah makes some good points that promote interesting discussion, but before I read the book it was presented to me like: "Gurl, you have to read this. This is the best book I ever read. This book is deep. I think it should be required reading for all young Black women." Maybe it's just that I heard too much of the hype before actually reading the book and that...

I think the Oscar is about industry politics. How many Oscars had Eastwood won? Several for director, and best picture. Never for acting. None, though nominated 2 or 3 times. How many Oscars had Freeman won? None, though nominated 2 or 3 times. Nominated for 'best actor' twice 'Shawshank' and 'Miss Daisy, and once for 'supporting actor' in 'Street Smart. The Academy was playing catch up, and make up for past 'oversights' for both men. Both men are in their 70s. They were paying off some...

The Double Standard only exists because of the different words being used. The different words being used are the evidence of different standards, not a double standard. If a women aims for the best, what is she aiming for specifically? Is she aiming for Denzel? Why? Is that the best? What this article was trying to point out is that, for women, finding love is about finding Category A. It's not about finding Denzel, unless Denzel fits Category A. Now, is that aiming for the best, or is it...

Any english teacher knows that "LANGUAGE" is a dynamic syntax, and also that ideas are the essence of communication. Put simply, that means that whatever the two parties involved in conversation perceive the meaning of a word to be, that's what the word means in that conversation. If both parties concieve "nigga" as an informal form of address, then that's what it means in that conversation, DESPITE ANY OUTSIDERS OPINION! Some people are prone to feel "wired" when using. It's legal status is fuzzy; The FDA pulled it, but recent court rulings have declared it's removal from the market illegal. The reference is specifically to the Religious Right and thus I think that it has some merit. Actually, I think that this is the preferable situation all around. Women always control the speed of the relationship anyway. If you're moving faster than her, you wind up chasing her away (women do not deal with pressure in relationships). However, if she's moving faster than you, then all you have to do is periodically put on the brakes by maintaining your self control. This only increases her interest in you (many men lack this self control, but women go crazy for it). So, it makes her...
