If Obama is clever, he will make the 2012 election about Medicare. Most people - even conservatives don't trust the GOP with Medicare. Hopefully the democrats will give a laser focus about Medicare. They should also point out that the GOP for two years didn't pass any legislation pertaining to "job creation." I don't think a poor economy will seal his doom.

Its always about the economy when the economy is bad. I think that by the time that the 2012 election is held the economy will be much worse than it is now. The economy is already slowing down from the fatigue of the last stimulus and there is absolutely nothing that can be done now by the government or the FED that will not make the situation even worse.

Considering that the President broke records in his 2008 campaign for raising money over the Internet from small individual donations and through grassroots efforts from individual Americans and supporters .... and is on pace to collect as much if not more in this upcoming election ... I would say that he HAS changed the way election fundraising happens. No other candidate had - or has since - received the kind of individual donor, non-corporate tainted money support that the President has.
