I can understand Roland Martin's sentiment here. However, I don't think he quite hit the mark with his explanation which in my opinion shows some lack of research on this issue before presenting his argument. What I agree with: The Confederacy was in fact not only a terrorist organization but committed sedition and used the arguement of states rights over the Constitution and the Federal government. Putting this into context of today, we know that the Tea Party and their ranks use many of...

CONFEDERATE HISTORY IS SUPREMACY HISTORY BY JULIANNE MALVEAUX Last week, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell proclaimed April Confederate History Month in his state. In fact he proclaimed the date on April 7, which is the same day in 1865 that Confederate general Robert E. Lee began to negotiate the terms of surrender with United States General Ulysses S. Grant. In some states, this day is considered Confederate Memorial Day, and Virginia is not alone is celebrating “Confederate History Month”.

I did forget one thing. The comparison to the Middle East and the U.S. putting troops on their sovreign territory is a horrible example. The nations of Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia are indeed sovreign lands with their own culture, history and heritage and are not a part of the United States. They have every right to consider U.S. military as foreign invaders, although Americans may not like it for 'political' reasons. The South did not. They agreed to be a part of the United States, signed...

They'll build that sucker, there'll be red and black paint all over it as soon as it's complete. These folks couldn't stand MLK when he was alive; he's been dead a long while and they still can't stand him. Let him rest in peace. If he was alive, he'd probably tell all living affiliates to kiss his ass, for allowing him to be assassinated. There was no love for him then; don't feign it now.

I don't think they'll build it there, because there has been all kinds of backlash. I'm sure the person who suggested this had good intentions, but it was a bad idea from the start; I mean, why would African Americans and anyone else who truly believe in Civil Rights [and our Constitution], and Equality, want to see a MLK monument anywhere near racist confederate monuments. Stone Mountain is where the KKK was started, and it is a place where they used to LYNCH Black people. How Black people...

Our land must be swept clean of radical terrorists. America will never be great as long as we do not hunt down these white terrorists who live in the 1800s. The Confederate Flag is a symbol of the Slave-Holding South. Mississippi and South Carolina need the flags flying to remind of the days they could brutalize Africans with no repercussions.
