The thing is, though, every society has rules and expectations of its members, and every society seeks to "train" its members to become productive parts of it.
But the question is: "What is productive?"
Hunter gatherer societies didn't have kids taking 4 years of English literature. I got straight D's in religion my freshman year. But I also got straight A's in math. But I bet an accounting course would have been more useful than the math I did take but I didn't think of it and no one suggested it to me.
She isn't complaining abot school as a concept. She is complaining about how it is done. There is a difference.
