Okay ... here's the thing for me ...
While the media has been very effective at portraying the (majority) face of welfare as Black or Brown ... we all know that that's simply not the truth. Black people may be disproportionately represented on the welfare rolls but White people dominate as far as the total numbers go.
Here in the South, every time the 'poor' or 'disadvantaged' is referenced the visual automatically defaults to a Black face .. but, the reality is that Black people are not the majority in ANY state of this union!! White folks outnumber everybody else 2-1. And while there are more of us in these southern states than elsewhere around the country, there are still more of them than there are of us, here.
So, whatever the Good Governor plans to do poor people and welfare recipients, in particular, there are a WHOLE BUNCH of poor, uneducated, non-active-parenting WHITE PEOPLE that are going to face those 'repercussions' he's talking about. It's not just Black people, and probably not even mostly Black people. He doesn't care about those (White) people, because he's a Republican and they're poor .. which means they are just expendable and unworthy of consideration in his eyes as any one of us would be.
And the reason the people of South Carolina keep putting these assholes in charge of the state is because they are White and the majority of those who vote them in are White, too!! As well as poor, ignorant, and don't know no better!
