That is an admirable statement. It speaks to the implied sense of fairness that is said to prevail, both in America and America's politics.
But, we know that is not true.
The game of politics is not about "fairness." We must learn to "play the game" if we are to be successful in the game. The gamesmanship of committees, as well as filibuster are attributes of the game.
You are who you say you are. Your children are who you say you are.
