LOL .... good advice, Ms. Koco!!
@ sunnubian .... you know, last week I spent almost an entire day GROWLING about the disappearance of basic respect, courtesy, and good manners in our young'uns today!!
I remember when I first moved to Texas (and was only in my mid-30s) ... and the occurrence of people (young'uns) calling me "Ma'am" all the time used to make the veins in my neck and forehead pop out like balloons!! I took it because it was the right thing (for them) to do!! But ... I thought for sure that with the next utterance, my head was going to EXPLODE and brains would go everywhere!!
Today .... I would be happy with just a "Thank you" or "Please" or "Excuse me" .... like when they pull up in the parking space next to me and slam their car door into mine ... or when their kid throws a ball in the store and it hits me and all he can do is look at me like "Why did you get in the way of my having fun??" And his parent says nothing - to him or to me - as if there was nothing wrong with what he had done.
But ... at the end of that day, I had to accept that those days are, in all probability dead and gone forever!! Although, when I see my kids still teaching their kids lessons in "home training" I HOPE with all I have that enough other parents their age are teaching their kids the same ... and that maybe, MAYBE one day we will get back to just being able to be decent and nice and courteous to each other!!!
I know it's no consolation ... nor a good excuse ... .but, just bask in the fact that you probably still look too YOUNG to be respected!! And they think you're 'one of them' so they don't think they have to give you the manners you deserve!!
And then just be glad you didn't ring their scrawny little necks when you had the chance!!! 'Cause you can't do anybody any good in jail for assault and battery!!
