I just got fitted for contacts. I'm walking around able to see without glasses for the first time in living memory.
This is bizarre.
I saw this before and laughed, because I remembered two things:
First: I remembered the first time I had put on glasses. My father had taken me to get the exam and get fitted for glasses....and when we finally picked up the glasses, the eye doctor put them on me and I looked all around saying, "I can see! I can see!"...Everything was so vivid and I don't think I will ever forget that; especially because my dad was laughing at my saying, "I can see....!" He said, "Those big ol' eyes and she couldn't see AnyThing!"
The second thing: When I got my first pair of contacts, I was way too nervous because I couldn't stand the thought of putting anything "in my eyes"....I just knew that I would not like wearing contacts....and to be true, I hated wearing them until I got with an EXCELLENT eye doctor who was able to fit for my eyes. I will never forget the day that I put in the CIBA vision lenses...because they were the first contact lenses that I could wear that did not seem as if they were "sucking on my eyeball." In addition, I could wear them all day without any irritation!
I get fitted for my new ones next week...I've toyed with attempting to try different colors...LOL. They have some fun ones nowadays and I'd get a kick out of wearing different ones...

Day 3 with contacts:
I can now get them in and out in less than 10 minutes (for some reason my right eye goes a lot quicker than my left one - the right one can be done in seconds ... but I fumble around awhile with the left one).
The thought of putting my finger in my eye is becoming less repellent. If for no other reason than it means that I will spend far less time putting my finger in my eye if I just don't blink and get it over with.
I'm still not sure if I like it because I feel naked without my glasses.
