Fact is...in the Cali example/ case? Calfiornia was an important part of Mexco before the war. It was taken by the Europeans. So in retro...those who migrated from the east coast during the "western migration" as part of the exploration of the West based on the 19th century expedition of Lewis and Clark did so AFTER it was commissioned by President Jefferson for economically purposes? Are REALLY the immigrates. Cuz prior to that California was occupied by Native Americans i.e. Aztecs. Olmecs and Mayans or the idigeous[sp] people of Mexico[who were conquered by Spain]. They are the true NATIVES of California, Thereafter, the descendants of THAT rivalry earned their independence from Spain and entered in a war against the United States to keep from losing what we know now as California. Yet they were defeated and did lose it and Texas succeeded to the United States during this time as well. But you do the math. California belonged to Mexico for thousands of years....and those people you call immigrants are descendants of the people WHO originated on the land. So in retro? Who's the immigrate? In Cali...it sho ain't the Latino...I tell ya that! But!
