I find it interesting that this article talks only about how Rice appeals to various factions of Republicans, and not at all about how (or if) she appeals to Democrats. Especially considering that the overwhelming majority of Black voters vote Democratic.
I suppose it's possible that she could get through the Republican primaries and on to the ticket, but could she win the Presidency? How many Black voters (and even white liberal voters) would vote for her just because she's Black, without giving a care to her political views or tacit support of policies that actually hurt the country?
If Condi runs, the Democratic party is going to have to be very careful how they handle it. They must stick to the issues! If they allow themselves to be sidetracked with personal attacks on Rice, they could get labeled as racist. Liberal white people go out of their way to keep from being called racist, and it could easily cause a schism in the Democratic party that would allow Rice a landslide victory.
Personally, it'll be a cold day in hell before I vote for Rice (unless she running against the grand wizard of the KKK). Two Bush terms is already too much. The last thing we need is his right hand puppet screwing us over for another four years.
