Reply to "How to Destroy Education While Making a Trillion Dollars"

OK, I have to put in my two cents.

The fact of the matter is that a tablet or netbook that costs $300 or less but is more powerful than a mainframe that cost $3,000,000 in 1980.  I really don't think people get this.  The mainframe was the IBM 3033.  I took a maximum of 32 megabytes of memory and that was regarded as A LOT until around 1990.

But now a smartphone comes with more than 512 megabytes.  Think about that!  Smartphones come with SIXTEEN TIMES as much memory as mainframes from the 80s.

This technology makes traditional education obsolete no matter what.  We have not figured out the best way to use it for education.  NOBODY KNOWS!   There may be lots of talk but NOBODY KNOWS.  We are participating in educational experiments.

But parents and students can do things regardless of what the people screwing up the schools are doing.  Why should we be waiting on the White folks?  Does anybody expect them to give us good information?  Even the public schools are primarily about funding themselves.

So get kids to read the free books regardless.
