I have practiced this dietary law since 1990 and I still look the same age.

As Salaamualaikum,

Sigh.. I really do not wish to come off vain/self stroking... or god forbid on this board if you say ANYTHING positive about the benefits of your religion with the hopes of sharing it with others, it will be taken as proselytizing....

At any rate...

Many people comment about my physical features... many people are shocked to find out how old I am.... Whenever any one meets me for the first time they assume I'm very young... When I was pregnant with my first child, I had older people comment on how it was a shame for "babies" to be having "babies"... lol they thought I was a teenager... (and of course unmarried!)... The women I meet in dance class always ask me what school I go to, because I may be interested in meeting their daughters/sons... or other young women ask if we can hang out...

I had a lovely woman at class ask me what school I went to.... I told her my school days were long past.... she looked perplexed... I didn't have the heart to tell her how oooooooooold I really am...

I will admit though in my family, I come from a line of women that look young.. though they look young for a longer period of time.... their diet DOES catch up with them... just a little longer than most....

So this plays a part in addition to my diet in my youthful appearance....

I too tried to go vegan... but I did not do it correctly... although I must say, I am lactose intolerant... and I have unresolved issues regarding milk (WHERE'S AUDIOGUY??), Just tonight I am trying for the first time this organic lactose free milk and will be drinking a half cup a day and testing it on my system to see how it works...

because I know some of the calcium in milk is binding, and blocks certain nutrients... as my diet consists heavily of fruit (especially now .. I LOVE SUMMER!)
Tonight I had cherries/blueberry/blackberry/raspberry salad... the sweetness of natural blueberries is delicious! It's like the "sugar" in the salad... when I take a spoonful of blueberries with black and raspberry it enhances their flavor... The cherries are naturally sweet too... I love eating with no additive seasoning... the sweet, tart, salty etc. taste of natural food is lost on us... (side note store bought black berries are terrible! ugh!... I remember eating blackberries from the wild, as a young girl and remembering how sweet they were!)..

Ooooh that reminds me... ahhhh.. I remember pulling honeysuckle from the vines and slurping the sweet liquid and just inhaling deeply their sweet scent...

hmmm... I remember experiencing the simplistic beauty of creation... yes...

sorry to get off topic.... but you made mention of milk... and going back to the diet and I just wanted to comment that I too am attempting the same...
