The first time I heard Erykah Badu was in the wee hours of the morning on the overnight radio show they played her first single "On & On" and my boyfriend at the time woke me up to listen to it. After that I kept hearing the song but didn't know who sang it. Then I was home from college on some break (I think Thanksgiving or Winter Break) and she was on BET with Big Les (remember her?) and they were at her house. It didn't even seem like an interview it was just like watching a visit to her home; they talked, drank tea, and at the end she had some other people over and they all sat around while she sang and played gitar. They also premiered the video to "on & On". I was dying for her albumn to come out. I was always just feeling her whole vibe. And then when you see her live she gives so much of her energy to her show. It feels so personal.
I bought her CD on the strength of on & on alone. I had no idea who she was and had never heard any of her other music but i loved on & on so much I just bought the CD (it was actually a cassette at the time, I was a late bloomer as far as purchasing CD's go.)I do remember big lez but i didn't see that show.quote:my all time fav. song is green eyes, but I don't think she performs the song very often.
I love that song too! I saw her perform it when she was on the Mama's Gun tour (summer 2001), but she didn't do it on New Year's Eve. I would love to see her perform "Stay" live; I like the way she sings it.
Oh man i would love to have seen her sing green eyes. that song is so emotional, if you listen real hard or really get into it you can hear her crying on the song.i like stay too..
Did anyone see House of D? Is it out on dvd yet?
I never saw that,I don't really remember even seeing it advertized. I had to look it up just now and it doesn't look familiar. I know she was in cider house rules, but I never did see all of that.
