This statement is incorrect. According to research studies, most students who apply (and are accepted) into teacher education programs are White females. In fact, school systems across the country have and still are reporting a shortage in Black and Latino teachers, particularly Black male teachers. In response to this shortage, school systems have partnered with teacher education programs across the country in an effort to recruit more minority teachers. "I agree that HOW THE MONEY IS SPENT and THE ENVIRONMENT THAT THE ADULTS who are invovled in the situation create is key. These adults being the parents, the teachers, the school administrators and the community at large."
