Reply to "Economic Update w/Rick Wolff: May 2013"

On the one hand I don't mind him but on the other he really annoys me.

 

He talks about the works of Charles Dickens and Capitalism.

 

How big a factor was PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE at that time.  As far as I can tell it did not start until after 1900.  But what have economists like HIM said about it in the last 50 years?  ALMOST NOTHING!  What have they said about making accounting mandatory in the schools?  NOTHING!

 

But now he wants to scream about how bad Capitalism is.

 

I say he is mostly full of crap for not brining up issues that could have helped avoid this but now wants to lay the blame on Capitalism which could not stop economists from computing and reporting the depreciation of durable consumer goods for the last 50 years.
