LOL ... I guess it's beginning to show how long we've been together, Sunnubian ... 'cause I was thinking the same thing (about commenting half way through!)
About the co-ops ... I remember several years ago when the idea of combining services for entrepreneurs first surfaced. The general premise was something like individual business people/owners being able to use/occupy some of the same space (like a floor of an office building) and services (like a common receptionist, typist or appt. maker) .... while trading services to each other (like a printer offering to make business cards for a lawyer - that would in turn offer to review the printer's business contracts ... in order to same money and overhead costs!!
The idea seemed to be catching on .... and I remember hearing about a couple of Black developers that were planning to expand the idea by either buying or building whole buildings to house these kinds enterprises for other Black entrepreneurs!!
But then, of course, like ALL good things that would be beneficial to "the little guy" and piss "big business" off ... er, I mean, cut into the profits of "big business" ... the whole subject just seemed to disappear!! And I honestly have to say that I haven't heard much, if anything, about it ever since!!
