According to the 2000 U.S. Census, black same-sex couples earn roughly $2,000 to $9,000 less in median annual household income than black married opposite-sex couples.

Is that going to change if they get married? Is this number a reflection of tax breaks that married people get, and what other variables are there? I have a hard time believing that this income gap is actually caused by being a same-sex couple. The same Census shows white same-sex couples actually have more median income than white heterosexual couples.

Last November many Blacks across the country supported President Bush's re-election over concerns Democrats were too favorable to LGBT issues.

If this is true, then we deserve what we got. This is another great example of ideological manipulation. It's pretty easy to follow. It works like this...

Politician says, "I need a way to distract these people from the issues (unemployment, healthcare, war, ect.) that actually matter to them. That way I won't have to confront those issues at all."

"I know... I'll convice them that some small, isolated, and reletively powerless group of people are the reason for everything that is wrong with America. If I can convince them that a small (6%) portion of the population is waging some sort of covert shadow war against the very moral fabric of our society, not only will they forget about more important issues, but they will even vote for me so that I can stop this 'scourge'. Why not, it worked last time!"

This strategy has been working against poor white folks for a long time now. This is why there are so many poor white people that keep voting Republican, no matter how badly they keep getting screwed.

This is the first time I know of that this strategy has worked on us. That's more than a little depressing.

Black church leaders also were instrumental in the advancement of amendments in several states to ban same-sex marriage.

Don't they have anything better to do? Aren't there people out there who could use some spiritual guidence? If their going to spend time advancing amendments they should advance amendments that might actually help their community.

I will never understand why people spend so much time, energy, and effort to oppress others. Especially when those others have nothing to do with them whatsoever.
