About Reparations

Bring Reparations
For Christmas

7/31/02

America is the undisputed king in a world that values violence in the form of nuclear bombs, war and bloodshed. America's past and present notifies and signifies the high value Americans at-large place on their ability to bring violence and death upon anybody anywhere at anytime. Thus, any peoples or nations wronged by America will likely have to resort to violence to right the wrong. If the wronged party is unable to bring levels of violence that force respect, then other methods of righting the wrong should be sought. However, at this point the wronged party is in an inferior position because it must accept whatever non-violent means the superior party proposes. This inferior-superior relationship is not only descriptive of the Israeli / Palestinian struggle but rest at the core of the conflict. That is precisely why Hamas and others continue to meet the seemingly more powerful Israelis with violence, destruction and death. In this way, the Palestinians maintain in the minds of the Israelis the notion that they don't have to accept unequal negotiated reforms. In other words, the Palestinians have the suicide bomber who thus far is the Ace Card that extracts respect from the Jews and the Americans. No cement wall, no amount of F-15 fighter Jets, black Hawk helicopters, missiles, bulldozers or curfews has stopped the bombers, - and the Jews and Americans know it! But you might ask, how does this relate to reparations for slavery?

Palestinians and black folk in America are dealing with the same mammoth, a government who only respects violence and death, a government that only accepts war and destruction as the real means to righting wrongs and a government of white imperialist hell bent on military hegemony and global control! At no time in the history of black people in America have we ever brought elevated and continuous levels of violence directed specifically against our oppressors. In fact, black people in America have aptly demonstrated our lack of inclination or ability to ever violently extract respect out of anybody (except one another). The United States historically has never respected any nation or people who could not bring sustained death and destruction upon Americans; this unfortunately includes their former slaves. Reparations for the descendants of American slaves will have to be violently extracted in the same context and manor as Hamas is extracting revenge from the Israelis. I can assure anyone that no matter what happens to the Palestinians, the Israelis will never forget the death and destruction of the suicide bomber! Unfortunately, the American slaves left no such legacy. Therefore, continuing to beg those who only respond to and respect violence for past reparations only reinforce the true powerlessness of African Americans.
