Protester Hugs Nazi Outside Richard Spencer Event, Asks Why Do You Hate Me?

Aaron Courtney asked the man in the swastika shirt, Why don't you like me, dog? His response: “I don't know.

Thousands of demonstrators were in Gainesville, Florida, on Thursday to protest a speech by white nationalist Richard Spencer, but one tried to counteract the hate with a hug.  It happened when a man wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with swastikas was surrounded by screaming protesters. The man, later identified as Randy Furniss by the Gainesville Sun, was punched by one protester in a photo that has since gone viral.

But Aaron Courtney, a high school football coach in Gainesville, tried a different tactic. He went up to Furniss and tried to engage him in a more loving manner.

A video posted to Twitter by user Politics 4 Dummies shows Courtney hugging Furniss while asking him, Why don't you like me, dog?

The 31-year-old Courtney told the New York Daily News the moment came after four hours of protesting Spencer's speech.

I had the opportunity to talk to someone who hates my guts and I wanted to know why. During our conversation, I asked him, Why do you hate me? What is it about me? Is it my skin color? My history? My dreadlocks?

Courtney said he almost broke out in tears as Furniss ignored his questions, but decided that maybe he just needs love. Maybe he never met an African-American like this.

That's when Courtney asked Furniss for the hug, which the man gave despite some initial resistance.

I reached over and the third time, he wrapped his arms around me, and I heard God whisper in my ear, You changed his life, Courtney told the Daily News.

Courtney said when he asked Furniss once again, Why do you hate me? Furniss finally answered, I don't know.

Courtney took that as a honest response.

I believe that was his sincere answer. He really doesn't know, Courtney said.

A lot of white people don't know why they hate black people.  Especially the young people.  They are just following the rhetoric cuz they don't wanna do the work and prefer to have things done for them.  A trait passed on from massa.  Which is why this man couldn't answer the question posed to him.  He doesn't know.  He doesn't care.  He's a follower.  Bottom line.   But!

The dude in the blue shirt looks like he got punched in the face. Who the hell has dred locks in this picture?? What is this subject about anyway?? Nazi shirt dude got punched in the face with a big fist attached to an arm one mile and one half long, and is still standing?? Who the fuck owns the fist a white gorilla??  Lord knows I'm lost on this one. Sorry!!!!

Who's the Negro that wanted a damn hug? Why?? When you're black around a bunch of crazy white men, thank your God your black ass left wherever the hell you were, alive. Come over here, I'll give you a hug after I choke you to death, first. Come get a black female hug. Come and get it!!!!!

I changed my mind, dred lock dude, track down a police car, old homeboy will choke you real good and ;maybe put a couple of bullets in you for good measure. Somebody who loves you will hug you in your casket as they snot all over you. Be careful wishing for those Caucasoid hugs.

They don't like you because you're B.L.A.C.K. These assholes can barely stand a pair of BLACK SHOES. Do you read?? Put down your phone and stop playing games. Dummy!!!!!

   B.L.A.C.K.  B.L.A.C.K.  B.L.A.C.K.  B.L.A.C.K.  B.L.A.C.K.  B.L.A.C.K. B.L.A.C.K.

The article is about white nationalist rally protestor approached by an anti-white nationalist and ask him while hugging him why does he hate him.  The white guy answered he didn't know.  An awkward moment for the white dude and made him think why did he hate someone he didn't know.  I couldn't get the photo of that hug.  But someone rolled up on another white dude and hit him in the face.  It is not the same white dude who was hugged.  I don't why they didn't put both in the article cuz it is a bit confusing.  But that's what the story is about.  But!
