“We were just following orders,” is a long standing quote used to encompass the reasons that most NAZI’s gave for doing things like jack booting someone to death. Today, it was observed by a savvy Reddit user that Hillary Clinton, in her own words, justifies using slave labor along similar lines in her book.
She writes that one of the “unusual” things about living in the Arkansas mansion was “getting to know the prison inmates who were assigned to work in the house and in the yard.”
Now too start with, we know that Clinton detests most of her regular staff who are not allowed to even look at her in the eyes. We are now to embrace the “fact” that she was out mingling with the inmates?
She was told that it was “a longstanding tradition” which kept costs down once the inmates were screened. While it is certainly good to see the prison inmates work, is this not work that should have gone with a fair pay to someone?
She goes into great detail about how she met murderers and how at some points their risk was assessed. Yes, we want our inmates working to earn their housing to some degree, but the implications have some outraged.
Clinton talks about waking up to convicted murderers in her kitchen, which while a very lighthearted story, does show that she employed slave labor, something that she has stormed against for years.
It is mentioned that, according to some, her going out of the way to befriend “African-Americans” who were working there was not that much different than the lady of the house in the old south befriending her black slaves.
That is not the spin that she put on it, but when it is looked at, that is what appears to have been the case. More pandering to black voter when really, she is using them.
With the way that her and husband treated, used, and disgraced blacks with things like “three strike laws” for petty crimes, the analogy fits wonderfully.
