Dozens tortured by Chicago police. Demand justice now!

action27104.jpgTorture in the USA? Tragically, yes. Chicago police systematically tortured over 100 people, all men of color, over two decades.

During the 1970's, '80's and early '90's, police in Chicago under the direction of former Commander Jon Burge systematically tortured suspects.

In addition to beatings, individuals alleged that they were subjected to electric shocks; had plastic bags placed over their heads and had been threatened with mock executions. Forced confessions resulted in many individuals being sentenced to long prison terms or even death.

Please urge the Chicago City Council to meet its obligation to ensure reparations for survivors by passing the Reparations Ordinance for the Chicago Police Torture Survivors.

SIGN THE PETITION

We, the undersigned, support passage of the Ordinance to provide reparations to survivors of torture by the Chicago's police:

- From 1972 to 1991, officers of the Chicago Police Department systematically tortured over 100 suspects, under the direction of Police Commander Jon Burge at Area 2 and 3 police stations. In addition to beatings, individuals alleged that they were subjected to electric shocks; had plastic bags placed over their heads and threatened with mock executions.

- Although Burge was convicted in federal court for perjury and obstruction of justice, neither he nor any of the detectives he supervised have been prosecuted for committing torture.

- Statutes of limitations not only prevent the ability to obtain justice for these crimes but also financial reparations for survivors. International law strictly prohibits the use of torture and other ill-treatment, and stipulates that governments are responsible for investigating torture allegations; bringing criminal proceedings in torture cases and compensating the victims.

- It has been more than twenty years since these allegations of torture first came to light. For all of that time, survivors and their family members have been denied prosecutions of the crimes alleged and many have been denied reparations to make them whole as required under international law. Now is the time to take steps to make these survivors of torture and their families whole again. Please pass the Reparations Ordinance for Chicago Police Torture Survivors to help take that step.

AFRICAN AMERICA IS AT WAR

THERE IS A RACE WAR ON AFRICAN AMERICA

THERE IS A RACE WAR ON AFRICAN AMERICANS

THERE IS A RACE WAR ON BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA

AMERICA'S RACISTS HAVE INFILTRATED AMERICAN POLICE FORCES TO WAGE A RACE WAR AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA

THE BLACK RACE IS AT WAR

FIRST WORLD WAR:  THE APPROXIMATELY 6,000 YEAR WORLD WAR ON AFRICA AND THE BLACK RACE

Original Post

Why do white men have so much hatred towards black men?  The slave trade has driven the white race totally out of their damn minds.  They've turned into full blown terrorists against the Africans in America.  No difference from what other people of the world are going through.  Roll around in all the money you've made on our butts, and leave us alone for awhile.  Take a trip back to Europe, why don'tcha?????

Dozens tortured by Chicago police. Demand justice now!

I would tend to agree that the Chicago police and any other police department using torture to get confessions are wrong.  However, the black community in Chicago is currently in a serious social crisis whereas gun violence perpetrated by blacks themselves is an everyday reality.  Where simply sitting on your front porch to catch a cool nights breeze may get you killed.  Or any child on the way to school could get shot in the head.  This is the reality of black Chicago. The perpetrators of these acts are young blacks that care about nothing and nobody and often times kill their own for sport.  If black folk in Chicago are sick and tired of having their friends and family getting murdered and vehemently disagree with the manner in which the white police deal with us, - then the only choice is to defend your self and your family till death.

I’m having difficulty understanding why it is that when murderous black gangs and drug dealers in Chicago kill innocent black men, women and children, aside from bereavement of these deaths black folk are helpless to stop it.  But when the white police intervene in a harsh manner these same black folk holler injustice and racism and demand that something be done from the highest courts in this country.  What kind of justice do these murderous remorseless gangs deserve?  In the black community the Nation of Islam and the black church has proven to be useless in their ability to protect our elderly, our families and most important our children.

I don’t mind torture for those who murder innocent black citizens.  I don’t mind torture for those who randomly kill in the name of protecting their so-call hood and their drug trade.  Malcolm X said “by any means necessary,” why shouldn’t that apply to the black community when it comes to protecting our women and children from those who do murder against innocent black people?  Whether it’s the Nation of Islam, community vigilante or the white police, violence must be met with violence!   If torturing these mindless, senseless murders of young children and women is what it takes to quell them, then so be it!  If on the other hand black Chicagoans have no belly for meeting out the kind of punishment these murderous gangs deserve and resent the manner in which the police confront these gangs, - then continue to watch your love ones die on the way to the store to buy a loaf of bread.

What the fuck does any of that have to do with grimy racist sadist troglodytes brutalizing, torturing and murdering Black people and systematically drawing confessions out of people, innocent or guilty, by the use of torture?

When some asshole Black guy beats the living sh!t out some White guy, do you try to excuse or justify it by talking about all the White men in this country that belong to the Ku Klux Klan or the Neo-Natsi Party or that are racist as hell, or that have beaten and murdered other White people, or that have blown up buildings in this country, or that want to overthrow the United States government?

Freaking Apples and Oranges; none of the crime being committed in Chicago by Black people against other Black people is being committed merely because the person they are committing the crime against is Black.

Furthermore, Black people pay taxes in Chicago too, therefore are paying the salaries of the police in that city just like everyone else, and if the Chicago PD does not want to "protect and serve" Black people with the same consideration that they do White people in Chicago, then at the very least, Black people in Chicago should be exempt from paying taxes and from the same laws as everyone else.

"Malcolm X said “by any means necessary,”
********************************************************

Malcolm X was talking about protecting the Black community from racist like the police that brutalize Black people sheerely out of racism and from White gangs that roamed around harassing, a brutalizing and murdering Black people with impunity, just like these cops did.

"But when the white police intervene in a harsh manner these same black folk holler injustice and racism and demand that something be done from the highest courts in this country."

*********************************************************

There is a big difference between "intervening" and systematically snatching any Black man off the streets and wrongly accusing and wrongly convicting him for a crime that he did not commit.  There is also a big difference between "intervening" and torturing false confessions out of people through coercion, threats, brutalizaton and torture.

Bringing up crimes that Black people commit against other Black people only seeks to justify the Domestic Terrorism of Black people in America.

Thank you sunnubian for that through beat down.   You ask, “What the fuck does any of that have to do with grimy racist sadist troglodytes brutalizing, torturing and murdering Black people and systematically drawing confessions out of people, innocent or guilty, by the use of torture?” Please allow me to try and clarify or explain why I see the two concepts as linked.  First, I acknowledge the importance and factual account of police terrorism and torture perpetrated against black people and the black community at large.  I understand how real it is and for that matter, how real has been for decades.  However, in the historical context or point of view the subject of terrorism in the black community is similar in many ways to the discussion of slavery.  For example, at best it is difficult to discuss the subject of slavery and ignore or omit the role of religion and the absolute fact that it was the West Africans whom for centuries sold off millions of Africans in the first place.  When the subject of “black terrorism” arises, for me the subject carries the same characteristics as the subject of slavery.  That is, it is an undeniable fact that prior to the black migrations of WWI and WWII, southern whites namely the KKK were the ones who perpetrated terrorism in the black community.  Moreover, as alluded in the article Dozens tortured by Chicago police Demand justice now! -  After the advent and establishment of the so-called ghettos in American urban centers brutality and terrorism against black people continued at the hands of the white the police.  So there is no doubt or dispute about the contents of the article.

Nevertheless, here in 2014 terrorism in the black community is without question a dichotomous concept.  That is to say, the terrorism you pointed out in the article and the terrorism I talked about committed by black gangs in their own communities are both concepts deserving equal attention and importance.  As previously mentioned, a century or two ago when the majority and density of African American communities were located in the southern states, terrorism in the black community was for the most part a singular one-sided affair.  I am talking about a time in African American history that was prior to the proliferation of gangs and guns among our youth.  Today, given all the statistics and data related to African American homicide and murder committed by blacks in their own communities, - one must question or at least contemplate which form of terror is of the greater concern to ordinary black folk in the black community.  And while it is true that police torture and terrorism is without question a major concern, - so too is the terrorism committed by marauding murderous gangs in our own communities.

Additionally, I would venture to say that if you asked the ordinary working class black person who lives in the hoods of South side Chicago, South Central Los Angles or the Overton section of Miami Florida, all places where murder and homicide perpetrated by black drug dealing gangs happens routinely, - what concerns them more, police torture of black suspects or young gun toting gangs killing people randomly.  I would bet my left arm they would answer the latter.  So for me torture and terrorism as for as black folk are concerned is a two-sided coin to include white police torture and terrorism as well as black terrorism millions of black face daily in their lives.  So in like manner as the subject of slavery, I find it difficult to talk about one without acknowledging the reality of the other.  And I reiterate, I don’t mind torture for those who murder innocent black citizens.  I don’t mind torture for those who randomly kill in the name of protecting their so-call hood and their drug trade.  I see these murderous terrorizing black gangs no different than the Jihadist who do murder in the name of Allah!

Sorry that it came off that way.  I just don't believe racism deserves an 'out', especially by way of 'deflection', which is often the case in America.

However, in the historical context or point of view the subject of terrorism in the black community is similar in many ways to the discussion of slavery.

It is exactly like Slavery with the only difference being the traps used to ensnare the Africans in the first place.  During the Trans-Atlantic slave trade it would have been literally the same traps setup to capture animals and cowardice ambush and superior weapons; today it drugs, guns and America's racist propaganda machine.

For example, at best it is difficult to discuss the subject of slavery and ignore or omit the role of religion and the absolute fact that it was the West Africans whom for centuries sold off millions of Africans in the first place.

It is also difficult to discuss the subject of slavery and ignore or omit the absolute fact that nearly the entire coast of Africa had been invaded and occupied and under the control of Europeans when more than a few or even a few dozen or even a few hundred Africans were sold into slavery by other Africans.  So, any way you look at it, if it's looked at truthfully, Europeans were responsible for the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and 99.9% of the Africans enslaved being taken in the first place.

When the subject of “black terrorism” arises, for me the subject carries the same characteristics as the subject of slavery.

As horrible as the drug dealing gangs are in African America, it is not the same.  Innocent bystanders notwithstanding, 99.9% of the violence committed by drug dealers and gang members alike is personal; as violent and still as unconscionable as it may be, they usually know their victim and have some type of "beef" with that person.  Black gang members and even drug dealers are not invading Black communities, kidnapping Black people and holding them hostage under the threat of brutalization or death.

Nevertheless, here in 2014 terrorism in the black community is without question a concept.  That is to say, the terrorism you pointed out in the article and the terrorism I talked about committed by black gangs in their own communities are both concepts deserving equal attention and importance.

They are both concepts or behaviors that of equal importance and deserve equal attention, but they cannot be meshed together as being exactly the same when there are significant differences in their causes and root.

Today, given all the statistics and data related to African American homicide and murder committed by blacks in their own communities, - one must question or at least contemplate which form of terror is of the greater concern to ordinary black folk in the black community.

That's easy, there's not much to contemplate.  Most African Americans in this country still have more to fear from America's police, discriminatory (IN)Justice System and racist vigilantes because, while the havoc gangs are reeking on some African American communities is horrible, Black families could just pick up and move or young Black males could choose not to join gangs or sell drugs or fight or shoot or kill each other over disagreements, unpaid debts or weak power trips.  However, Black people cannot cease to be Black when a racist cop is "Stopping and Frisking" black people/a young Black male, or racially profiling Black people or when most of all of the people sitting on a jury is racist or when a prosecutor or a judge in America's courtrooms is racist, or when some deranged racist is out "coon hunting" because he knows he can cower down behind lies of "self-defense". Neither can our children cease to be Black when their adolescent behavior is being criminalized in America's public school systems or when public school officials have extorted consent to have them medicated from their parents.

I would venture to say that both are of equal concerns to people living in those conditions, primarily because of the fact that it is often the people living in the most vulnerable conditions in America that are preyed upon by both criminals and police alike.

I would bet my left arm they would answer the latter.

I don't think I would make that bet.

So for me torture and terrorism as for as black folk are concerned is a two-sided coin to include white police torture and terrorism as well as black terrorism millions of black face daily in their lives.

I see them as two different coins because millions of Black people in America are not going through any terrorism by other Black people, or even from Black gangs, criminals and drug dealers, but any one of millions of Black people in America, you, me a family member, etc., could be wrongly accused of committing a crime at the drop of a hat, or are living under police surveillance or harassment or could at any given time be brutalized or murdered by a racist cop with impunity.

I don't believe in torture, but I do believe that more could be and should be done to eliminate gangs and drug dealers from African America, but it is my opinion that it should start with stopping the flow of drugs and guns being funneled directly into the Black community in the first place.  And if Black gangs and drug dealers are no different than the Jihadists that murder in the name of Allah, then our own government and politicians are also no different than the Jaihadists that murder in the name of Allah, since it was our own government that funneled drugs into the Black community to begin with, and our own politicians that created and enacted all the loopholes in our gun laws that allow guns to be legally funneled into the Black community directly into the hands of immature black youth and teenagers in the first place.
