Re: The Divide Between Blacks and the Irish

These are images from Harpers Weekly of the rioters, most of whom where Irish. They were upset about conscription into the Union army while the wealthy white citizens (of English extraction) kept themselves and their sons out of harms way. The first two images are of lynchings of African Americans, and the last is the burning of the African American orphanage.

I can understand Roland Martin's sentiment here. However, I don't think he quite hit the mark with his explanation which in my opinion shows some lack of research on this issue before presenting his argument. What I agree with: The Confederacy was in fact not only a terrorist organization but committed sedition and used the arguement of states rights over the Constitution and the Federal government. Putting this into context of today, we know that the Tea Party and their ranks use many of...

CONFEDERATE HISTORY IS SUPREMACY HISTORY BY JULIANNE MALVEAUX Last week, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell proclaimed April Confederate History Month in his state. In fact he proclaimed the date on April 7, which is the same day in 1865 that Confederate general Robert E. Lee began to negotiate the terms of surrender with United States General Ulysses S. Grant. In some states, this day is considered Confederate Memorial Day, and Virginia is not alone is celebrating “Confederate History Month”.

I did forget one thing. The comparison to the Middle East and the U.S. putting troops on their sovreign territory is a horrible example. The nations of Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia are indeed sovreign lands with their own culture, history and heritage and are not a part of the United States. They have every right to consider U.S. military as foreign invaders, although Americans may not like it for 'political' reasons. The South did not. They agreed to be a part of the United States, signed...

Reference: The caller, a guy named "Bill," who is a North Carolina Republican, stated that C-Span should change their name to "Black-Span," because "if they [African Americans] are only 10 or 12 percent of the population, there's no way they seem to be 80 percent of your callers." This is ridiculous. Obviously this cracker would have no problems with people (preferably whites) calling the program and condemning Obama for whatever reasons. I find it so disingenuous that white conservative...

It’s interesting how people call other idiots, but then do not demonstrate how the person is wrong in what they say. How about just saying that you disagree and not call someone an idiot, if you cannot intelligently refute what they are saying? The problem here is that biased people have a hard time dealing with an objective point of view. People on this forum act as if rpublicans are the only ones who act like nuts, make violent references against Presidents, show hate for the government...

Well, I would say just because its a not a dominant cultural activity doesn't mean that we've forgotten about our rural roots. There are Black rodeos still out in the midwest, OK & AR. I have a cousin who is a professional rodeo-er (is that a word LOL) he's all of about 28. He grew up riding horses and bull riding. My great uncles used to ride bulls out on my great grandparents farm. What is funny about that is because they were so close in age to my mom and her older sisters sometimes,...

This is..., or was...an organization in New York City that called itself 'SHODEO'. The organization is/was located in Long Island, and worked extensively with the New York City public schools. The organization was owned, and operated by an African American guy who sported a huge handle-bar moustach, wore a huge (maybe 12-gallon) hat, and rode a magnificent palamino. 'SHODEO' presented a full range of rodeo events. We booked the organization in Northeastern Pennsylvania in the summer of 1993,...

Interesting to see how black people hate themselves and their own kind. This is why black on black crime is at such catastrophic levels. This is why over 50% of black men are with white women. I knew this is the reason why blacks have such slavish loyalty to obama who is not even of their own ethnicity. Its typical liberal eugenics and caste system. They are still doing what they've been doing for at least a hundred years. Assigning value and potential based on whether or not a black person...

Like, for instance .... 700,000 people losing their jobs every month ... is what a sign of a "bad economy" looks like .... coupled with over 1.2 million people being evicted from their homes at the same time ... is what a "bad economy" looks like .... the stock market crashing to new lows daily for months on end is something that anybody over an idiot can see is a 'sign' that we're living in a "bad economy" ....
